Sarcoids
A sarcoid is basically a
type of skin tumour believed to be caused by a virus. There is a
possible link between a poor immune system and sarcoids.
Appearance:
They are variable in
appearance and may look like the following
·
Crusty and wart-like
·
Smooth and nodular and can become
very large and multiple.
·
Flat, slightly bumpy with areas of
hair loss.
·
As they grow they may become
ulcerated and infected.
·
They are found on the inside of
thighs, on or around the sheath and udder, behind the elbow and
girth area, under the belly and on the head and neck.
Traditional and Veterinary Treatment:
·
Applying a tight elastic band
around the base of the sarcoid. Only suitable for tumours with a
narrow base. There is usually quite a lot of swelling and some
discharge before the tumour drops off.
·
Surgical removal, cryosurgery,
injection of BCG vaccine.
Alternative Preventative and Herbal Treatment.
·
Yarrow flowers, one cup chopped and steeped in boiling water daily,
added to feed. Yarrow may
help restrict oxygen
and nutrients to the tumour..
·
A short cleansing course may help
flush toxins from the system.
·
Other herbs that stimulate the
lymph system are cleavers, violet leaves
·
Garlic and echinacea
to activate immune system and provide antibiotic cover.
·
Apply twice daily using a cotton
bud, a tincture blend of yarrow and bergamot.
·
Apply thuja ointment twice daily
·
The yellow juice of the stem of
Greater Celandine may be applied twice daily. ( the bright orange
exudate from the stem is purported to dissolve protein in sarcoid)
·
Homeopathic thuja and causticum 60
may be given internally.
