Bitter sweet herb with a horse-like smell, acting mainly on the reproductive and nervous systems. Stimulates the uterus, and has rejuvenative and aphrodisiac properties.

nWithaferin has anti tumour and radio sensitising effects.
nWithanolides (serve as hormone precursors . Resemble the active ingredients of ginseng
nAshwagandaholine and the combined alkaloides exhibit calming and anti-spasmodic properties.
nSitoindosides enhance pathogenic destroying phagocytes.
nCatalyses the anabolic processes of the body.
Uses:
  • 1.Traditionally used to treat impotence.
  • 2.Has anti arthritic and rejuvenating qualities. Natural pain killer.
  • 3.Regenerates the hormonal system
  • 4.Promotes the healing of tissue free radical scavenging ability.
  • 5.Sedative and helps with insomnia.
  • 6.Used to treat multiple sclerosis.
  • Has been found to improve the severity of asthma.
  • Reputed to have tissue building properties.
  • Used to treat arthritis and improve physical stamina.

Suitable for use on pets and horses as a rejuvenator, as an arthritic supplement and as a mid sedative

Externally as a poultice for swellings, wounds burns and stings.

Cultivation

Ashwagandha belonging to the solanacaea family and native to India and grows to a sprawling  shrub rarely exceeding 1m in New Zealand, preferring dry sandy soils.
